2026 Primary Election: Announcing second wave of candidate endorsements
New Endorsements for 2026 Primary Election. Ballots to be mailed out May 4th, 2026.
Following a rigorous evaluation by the Candidate Assessment Teams (CATs), the Committee has officially endorsed additional leaders who embody feminist values of social, racial, and gender equality.

The newly endorsed candidates include:
Salud Carbajal
U.S. House of Representatives, 24th District of CA
Congressman Salud Carbajal represents California’s 24th District. He focuses on economic opportunity, environmental protection, infrastructure, and healthcare affordability.
Serving on the Armed Services, Agriculture, and Transportation committees, he helped pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, securing over $1 billion for the Central Coast. He championed the Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary and has secured $50 million for local projects, including public safety and health clinics.
A Marine Corps veteran and first-generation college graduate, Carbajal previously served 12 years on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors.
Melinda Greene
Santa Barbara County Clerk-Recorder Assessor
Melinda Greene has served Santa Barbara County for nearly 30 years, beginning as a CPA in the Auditor-Controller’s office. She later worked as a Budget Analyst and Certified Public Finance Officer in the County Executive Office. Since 2003, she has held leadership roles in IT and currently serves as Chief Deputy Clerk-Recorder and CFO. An Advanced Certified Appraiser and Certified Elections Registration Administrator, Melinda has supported elections since 1998 and served as a County Public Information Officer during emergencies since 2000. She holds a degree in Business Economics from UCSB.
Kyle Slattery
Santa Barbara County Auditor-Controller
Kyle Slattery, a lifelong resident of Santa Barbara County, is a CPA and a seasoned public sector leader. His extensive experience spans public accounting and government, including over a decade in the Auditor-Controller’s Office, where he held the position of Chief Deputy Controller. Currently, he serves as the Deputy Chief Information Officer, where he spearheads the modernization of County enterprise systems to enhance efficiency.
His campaign emphasizes experienced, professional leadership, transparency, accountability, and the establishment of effective systems.

Laura Capps has dedicated her career to public service, driven by a passion for making our community and country the best they can be for everyone. As Chair of the Board of Supervisors and a six-year member of the Board of the Santa Barbara Unified School District, she has demonstrated her responsiveness and impact during challenging times.
Laura is a steadfast advocate for affordable housing, environmental preservation, and open spaces. She is also committed to transitioning to renewable energy. Above all, she consistently delivers tangible results.
